CECI N'EST PAS UNE POTICHE

This work consists of four paintings and four cardboard boxes, inside of which viewers can find the paintings’ titles.

A painting’s meaning is fleeting. It differs from viewer to viewer. Interpretation is personal, yet many base theirs on an alleged hint: the artist’s title.

What happens if there is no title, no hint? What happens if one separates the artist’s interpretation from the viewer? If it's guarded by a box? Would you open it? Would you sneak past the guard?
